LeeBoy 685 Grader Does the Job
Mike Sarver, a supervisor at Henry Clay Township in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, didn’t need a big sales job to convince him to buy the LeeBoy 685B Motor Grader. He and others from the township visited the LeeBoy plant in Denver, North Carolina, to see the grader for themselves. Sarver says, “We toured the plant, saw the quality machines being put together, and got to test drive the grader at the plant. We were pleased with what we saw.” According to Gary L. Rishel, also a supervisor at Henry Clay Township, “Our operator said that it’s overwhelmed with power. That for a small grader he didn’t think you could beat it.”
Henry Clay Township primarily uses the 685B Motor Grader for ditches, shoulders, and berms. One of their challenging uses is on dirt roads. The motor grader enables them to pull the ditch lines, level, and then put down gravel.
But a more recent challenge was to remove ice on a blacktop. The ice was tight and they needed the motor grader to chew the ice off the road. “We use trucks for snow removal, but the plows on the trucks don’t have the down-force to take something tight [like ice] off the road. The 685 took the ice off right down to the road,” said Rishel. Sarver adds, “The 685 is very versatile and clears ditches like we need. We’re pleased with everything it does.” Sarver concludes, “We are pleased with the LeeBoy. It’s a good machine and we would recommend it. Actually, we have recommended it.”
