Interview with Robbie St. James Ace Paving Boerne, TX

Robbie St. James of Ace Paving has been in the paving business since 1972. He has worked with every type and brand of paving equipment. Ace Paving does everything from driveways to city streets, parking lots to subdivisions. In 1977, Robbie tried his first LeeBoy paver and has been running LeeBoy products since that time. Currently, he owns a 1000B Rubber Tire Asphalt Paver and the 2000 Asphalt Paver. Ace Paving stays with LeeBoy equipment because “when something works, you stick with it.”

A favorite story of his occurred when Ace Paving contracted to pave a city street in a major subdivision. The city officials questioned the use of the smaller paving equipment versus larger pavers. The officials were concerned that the smaller pavers would have a problem getting such a large job completed. They thought I needed a bigger machine because in their minds, larger was better. When I finished the street, it passed all of the density tests the city required. The job looked great and the city officials were impressed.

Ace Paving has many stories on their LeeBoy equipment, purchased at Connelly Locke and Nichols. LeeBoy equipment takes less time to complete a job with fewer people. The pavers lay tighter joints for a smooth job. In addition, because LeeBoy pavers are designed so well, downtime is not an issue.
