Interview with Robert Broitzman
H-B Blacktop & Son, Inc.
South Elgin, Illinois
April 20, 2001

Bob Broitzman has been working in the asphalt business since he was thirteen. His dad started the business in 1937 and "Hollywood Bob," as they call him, took over in 1972. He’s seen all makes and models of every asphalt machine built and has worked and operated them for a long time. Today, Bob mainly focuses on large parking lots and subdivisions. Blacktop & Son relies on their LeeBoy equipment.

Hollywood did his homework before he purchased his first LeeBoy, a 900 roller. He went to Casey Equipment to take a look at what LeeBoy had to offer. He was impressed that it took fewer people to operate the equipment that learning to operate and maneuver it was quick and easy, and any support he might need was only a short phone call away. Bob also wanted equipment he could easily maintain and repair. He can do all this with LeeBoys.

Today Hollywood continues to purchase his LeeBoy machines through Casey Equipment and now owns an 8500 Elite Paver, a 300 and 400 roller and a tack machine. He’s owned and operated other brands of machines and won’t switch back. He believes "if there were a perfect machine, it would be a LeeBoy." And you don’t mess with perfection.
